Help the Planet
By disposing of recyclables thoughtfully, you are already contributing to a more sustainable planet, but by recycling, you are helping to preserve raw materials, use less energy, reduce landfill and the toxic material leached into the ground through landfill.
Embedded in the Scout Law is “A Scout cares for the environment”. Since the seventies, Scouts SA has been caring for the environment in a practical and tangible way by taking recyclable rubbish and keeping it out of landfill. It’s part of what Scouts calls “building a better world”. It is now possible to offer this service in other states and territories.
Scouts will pay you cash for your deposit containers as well as scrap metal and car batteries. But the economic benefits don’t just stop at you.
When you take your recycling to a Scout Recycling Centre, the profits go back into the Scout organisation, making Scouts far less reliant on external funding. Recycling also creates jobs – over 100 jobs at Scout Recycling Centre. Reusing our finite resources spreads the wealth of our planet over many more generations.

We will also arrange a recycling container, and pick up from your event, with all profits going towards the adventure and good work of Scouts. Get your business involved in a positive future for Australian youth.
As well as the greater benefit to the environment by disposing of recyclables responsibly, recycling with Scouts helps your community. All of the profit from The Scout Recycling Centre is returned to the community in support of Scouting programs to develop young people.
The local Scout Hall in your area was probably built or improved with money raised by recycling bottles and cans. The vast array of Scouting activity facilities including climbing walls, gliders and even the Woodhouse activity centre are all supported by profits from Scout Recycling Centre.
Through Scouts, young people learn respect, courtesy, and courage; they develop confidence and aptitude, and they become experts in creating a greener, more sustainable future. All of these traits go towards a long term positive impact and building a better world. By choosing Scout Recycling you are directly supporting Scouts.
