When you recycle with Scouts, you’re supporting wonderful work of Scouts youth groups in South Australia.
Scouting in South Australia is an active and vibrant movement that plays a vital role in the development of young people. Through various activities, such as camping, hiking, and community service, Scouting helps young people to develop important skills and qualities, such as leadership, teamwork, resilience, and self-confidence. Emphasises the importance of environmental stewardship, Scouts encourages young people to appreciate and protect the natural world, and to “leave only footprints”. By engaging with their local communities and undertaking meaningful projects, Scouts also learn the value of giving back and making a positive impact on the world around them. Scouting in South Australia is a dynamic and multifaceted program that provides young people with valuable opportunities for personal growth, while also promoting important values and contributing to the greater good.
Scouts Recycling Centres first opened back in 1978 to help South Australians keep their community, and the planet, clean. Now, with 12 locations across Australia, we’re still going strong .
Help the Planet
Embedded in the Scout Law is “A Scout cares for the environment”. Since the seventies, Scouts SA has been caring for the environment in a practical and tangible way by taking recyclable rubbish and keeping it out of landfill. It’s part of Scouts’ commitment to building a better world.
Help Yourself
Scouts will pay you cash for your deposit containers as well as scrap metal and car batteries. But the benefits don’t just stop at you.
When you take your recycling to a Scout Recycling Centre, the profits go back into the Scout organisation.
Recycling also creates jobs – over 150 jobs at the Scout Recycling Centres. Reusing our finite resources spreads the wealth of our planet over many more generations.
We will also arrange a recycling container, and pick up from your event, with all profits going towards inspiring young people to excel in life.
Help Scouts
The local Scout Hall in your area was probably built or improved with money raised by recycling bottles and cans. The vast array of Scouting activity facilities, including climbing walls, gliders and even the Woodhouse activity centre, are all supported by Scout Recycling Centre revenues.
Through Scouts, young people learn respect, courtesy, and courage; they develop confidence and aptitude, and they become experts in creating a greener, more sustainable future. All of these traits go towards building a better world. By choosing Scout Recycling you are directly supporting Scouts.
